The Rabble Rousers were formed in April 2000 by published songwriter Chris Rehm and blues harp
player
Bruce Turkel as a vehicle to promote Chris’ songwriting. Only a few months later, the band opened
for Bob Margolin on the acoustic stage at the 2000
Sound Advice Ft. Lauderdale Blues Festival. The
following year found them elevated to the Main Stage and opening for Keb Mo’ and Chief Eddie
Clearwater at the same event.

Since 2000 the Rabble Rousers have been an annual fixture at the
Heaven Cycle Bash, which draws
several thousand Bikers, most recently at Tobacco Road in Miami. The group also headlined at the 2003
Hot Wheels and Cool Blues Festival on Miami Beach. Over the last four years, Chris Rehm and the
Rabble Rousers have performed all over Dade and Monroe counties in South Florida. And last year,
bandleader Chris Rehm, had the ultimate thrill when he shared the stage with Allman Brothers Band
alumni and Grammy Award winner,
Dickey Betts.

2004 saw the group cutting their first demo CD,
"Rubber, Leather & Chrome" (c)2004. The recording is
being used in the Dade County Public School System as an introduction to contemporary blues music. It
is also being played on the Allman Brothers & Dickey Betts web sites on Radio Hittin’ the Web. Finally,
during 2004 the band had the good fortune to become acquainted with
Marlene Arel , long time
companion of the late Tom Dowd, legendary record producer/engineer. Marlene has become a very
important part of the group as our un-official advisor, critiquing and offering sage advice as appropriate.
She continues to encourage and inspire the band with her insight and enthusiasm for our music, which in
her words “Tom would have loved!”
